General recommendations
If you are connected to the Internet through a Proxy Server, located in your office, please ask your network administrator to help you with the following steps:
- Check if your proxy server supports Socks5 (better) or Socks4.
- If yes, activate it. If not, you will not be able to use our programs.
- Download SocksCap application either from our FTP server (quick download, possibly not the latest version) or from the
NEC USA, Inc. site (latest version, possibly slow connection).
- Install it according to the user manual.
- Run SocksCap32 and set it up for your proxy server (menu item File\Setup).
- Add your internet browser to the list. You can do it by clicking New, and then Browse.
- Launch browser from SocksCap32, selecting it and pressing Run Socksfield!
It should work now.
Detailed instruction
- Make sure that all necessary ports are open. The best way to do it is to run AFMCharts and AFMSystem on the same computer where the proxy is installed. If everything works, you can go to the next step, if not, please open the ports.
- Start SOCKS service (better Socks5 if you are running a modern proxy like WinGate.
- Install the SocksCap32 at the client, set it up for Proxy server.
- Add your browser into SocksCap32.
- Run browser from the SocksCap32. Do not set up browser for proxy. Browser should be set up for a direct Internet connection.
- Launch AFMCharts (AFMSystem) from the browser.
- If it does not work, try to connect to the server with telnet (telnet dataman.akmos.ru 15209) through SocksCap32. If it connects, Proxy server and SocksCap32 are installed correctly, and the problem is elsewhere (for example incorrect browser version).
If setup failed
If you were unable to set up proxy server, you can do the following:
- You can use the HTML version of AFMDealer terminal for trading.
- You can get quotes from a minimal application which does not require a direct Internet link.
