Java console in Microsoft Internet Explorer
Java in Microsoft Internet Explorer could be in one of three states:
- Standard Java VM from Microsoft installed
- Java VM from SUN installed
- Java not installed
First determine which case is yours. Visit the page Java setup and follow directions in section 2. If Java is installed, look at the system tray (lower right corner of the screen).
If you see an icon which looks like the one marked by the arrow above, follow instruction for SUN Java. If there is no such icon, follow instructions below.
- Open Java Console. For this choose the following from the menu:
| Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (MSIE 5.0) |
 |
- If the menu doesn't have this option, it has to be inserted:
- In MSIE 4.x select View -> Internet Options, then from the window Advanced -> Java VM -> Java Console Enabled
- In MSIE 5.x and 6.x select Tools -> Internet Options ... Advanced -> Java VM (or Microsoft VM) -> Java Console Enabled.
You must place a checkmark in "Java Console Enabled". Close all MSIE windows, open it again, then proceed to step 1.
- When the Java console is open, select the windows contents completely. Select the text with the mouse then press Control-Insert on the keyboard. Now you can paste the text into an e-mail or elsewhere.
