Downloading IDLe

Download the distribution file from our FTP server and save it to your disk. To accomplish it click the "Download IDLe" link at the previous page. You should see a window that looks like this:

Click "Save" and enter the location where you wish to store this file in the small window that will appear. Be careful to remember the location where you've saved IDLe. If you think you won't need to install AFM IDLe again, you may select the "Open" button. In this case the program will not be saved.

Installing IDLe

Before installing IDLe make sure that your techalalysis application (MetaStock Professional, Tradestation etc.) is installed on your computer already. IMPORTANT! If your techanalysys application, such as MetaStock Professional 7.0 supports multiple data feed configurations, it must be installed in the "Signal (Broadcast Version)" or "eSignal" configuration.

After the AFM IDLe file has been completely saved on your computer, you may launch it. You will be asked a series of questions:

• Specify the installation folder for AFM IDLe.
• Select additional components you'd like to have installed.
  • User Manual (Documentation). This manual will be saved on your computer to be available off-line. The latest version of the manual is also available on-line at http://www.akmos.com/software/afmidle/
  • New (empty) MetaStock files (Default MetaStock files). If you are installing IDLe 3.0 for the first time, we recommend selecting this option because it will make configuring the program easier. Should AFM IDLe be installed on your computer already, this option will have no effect.
• If you'd like to install the new MetaStock files, you should specify the folder to store them. If you have the earlier version of the program installed, AFM IDLe will save the quotes in another folder by default, that is, it will download the complete set of data from the server. If you wish to keep the data received by the previous version of the program, you need to:
  1. Not install the new dataset (uncheck the Default MetaStock files option), or install them in a new folder
  2. Before launching IDLe specify the folder with the old data in the parameter Path to MetaStock files (See User Manual). This will get IDLe to convert the data to the new format. If you have MetaStock 6.0 installed, the conversion will not occur and you will get an error message.
• Specify the folder to keep IDLe in your Start menu.

After the installation completion you can launch IDLe from Windows 95 (98) Start menu:

IDLe will be located in the folder specified by you (Akmos folder by default).
