Q: What do I need to start working with you over the Internet?
A:
- You need a computer with 32 MB RAM or more and Intel Pentium processor with frequency more than 150 MHz (300 MHz for best results) or equivalently fast processor from any maker.
- Access to the Internet with speed no less than 9.6 Kb (most providers give at least 33 Kb).
- Any Internet Browser with support for Java 1.1. For best results please use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or better. The full list of supported browsers is here.
- Working e-mail address is also very desirable.
If you are expecting to use AFM IDLe and MetaStock you would also need:
- Either one of Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000
- At lest 32MB RAM (for Windows 95-98) or 64MB (for Windows NT or 2000)
- MetaStock 6.52 or 7.0 Professional. Versions below 6.52 are not supported.
Q: I am connected to the Internet through a proxy server. How can I set it up?
A: The full explanation you can find here.
Q: I forgot my password. What should I do?
A: You can get your account management master-password through the Password Reminder page. You can change the passwords for trading terminals at the account management page.
Q: I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above. When I try to start your applications a small window pops up, but it contains just the words "(name of application) would appear here if your browser supported Java.". How to update MSIE 5.0 (5.5,
A: You need to install Java Plug-in.
Q: I use Netscape Navigator 4.0 (2.0, 3.0 or InternetExplorer 2.0, 3.0). Why AFMCharts doesn't work?
A: These browsers do not support Java 1.1. Detailed information about supported browsers you can find here.
Q: When I use one of the Java applications with Microsoft Internet Explorer, I get an error "SecurityException Unable to check hostname dataman.akmos.ru". How can it be fixed?
A:
First clear browser cache and delete old security certificates ooo M Business Service from Internet Explorer. You can do so by opening dialog box Internet Options, go to Content tab. Then in the Certificates group press Publishers button. In the window delete line OOO M Business Service, then click OK and then again OK in the Internet Options window.
Now close all Internet Explorer windows then open it again. You need to press the cross button in the upper right corner of the window. Now you can start the Java application.
Q: After entering login and password into a Java-application I get an error message "No Route To Host, operation timed out or ERROR--java.net.NoRouteToHostException:Operation timed out". How can it be fixed?
A: Most likely you are connected to the Internet through a proxy or a firewall. It prevents the application from connecting to our server. Contact your network administrator or ISP. Follow instructions to configure the proxy.
Q: After entering login and password into a Java-application I get an error message "ERROR -- java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission dataman.akmos.ru resolve)"
A: See the next question about security certificate
Q: When trying to load a Java application instead of a usual pannel with prompts for login and password I see a gray square. What should I do?
A: It could have several causes:
- It is possible that your browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer, MSIE) partially loaded Java applet. For some unclear reason MSIE sometimes assumes that the applet was loaded fully when in reality it was not. MSIE then attempts to run whatever was loaded. Obviously, it does not work. Try to reload the applet again. Simultaneously press Ctrl and F5.
- Java application is signed with a security certificate. When it's loaded for the first time, MSIE asks if you trust a certificate signed by ooo M Business Service. Answer Trust always or Trust now. If you choose Do not trust the applet is not be loaded. Reload the applet by pressing Ctrl and F5 together, and then choose Trust always.
- Your browser cached the old version of the program. Please try to clear cache, and then restart the program.
- You have some antivirus software which blocks loading of Java applets (see question 1).
- You are using early or beta version of Netscape Navigator. Some releases (for example 4.06 or 6.0 PR1) of NN arrear working, but, unfortunately, too buggy to be used for production work. The first acceptable version of NN is 4.5 (not 4.05!). Detailed information regarding supported browsers you can find here.
- If you are using MSIE 4.0, please check if your browser is set up to accept cookies. Java application does not use cookies, but it still somehow interferes with normal operation of Java VM. It's a bug in MSIE 4.0. Enable cookies.
- Incorrectly installed proxy server.
- Required TCP ports are closed in the router or firewall.
Q: What's the time zone used in your application?
A: In post cases it's Mid-European time zone (MET). It's usually corresponds to Berlin time zone - one hour ahead of GMT.
Q: The quotes in the trading terminal change less frequently than the quotes in AFMCharts or AFM IDLe. Why?
A: The quotes in the trading terminal are a subset of quotes in AFMCharts or AFM IDLe. AFMCharts/IDLe translate quotes from a large number of international data feeds. The trading terminal shows quotes from a single broker only, while AFMCharts/IDLe show quotes from a large number of market participants.
