Q: I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. When I open a large number of charts, sometimes I see an error "Out of memory". I know that my computer has enough memory. Why does this happen?
A: Unfortunately, Microsoft Corp. set an arbitrary limit on the number of graphical objects which can be created from a Java application. This limit (128 menus) is set in the browser and we can't bypass it. You can either use MSIE 4.01 for now hoping that the limit will be removed in the future, or use Netscape Navigator 4.7. If you have to use MSIE 5.0, do not open more than 12 charts simultaneously. It may also help if you add fewer indicators to every chart. Detailed information on supported browsers can be found here.
Q: Instead of a usual pannel with prompts for login and password I see a gray square. What should I do?

Q: How should I set up a FireWall for AFMCharts?

Q: I enter code and password, press Login, wait for a long time and then see an error "ERROR -- Connection timed out". What's wrong?
A: It happens either:
- If you work through a Proxy Server.
- You or your ISP is experienscing connectivity problems. Please make sure you are still connected to the Internet.
Q: I enter code and password but get "ERROR -- Invalid password". Why?
A: The most frequent mistake is entering password when keyboard is switched to national layout (instead of English). Passwords with national characters are not supported. Make sure you are not typing digit "0" instead of letter "?" and vice versa, or letter "l" vs. digit "1". Also make sure you are not entering account number instead of the code. The code is equal to the account number on demo accounts only. You should always enter code, not the account number. If you are trying to access demo or contest accounts, make sure, they have not expired yet. If you are sure you are entering correct code and password and the account has not expired, please contact technical support.
Q: AFMCharts produces an error XXX. Where can I learn what it means?

Q: I want to change the interval in the chart (currency, color, add indicatorand so on) but don't know how to do it. Please help.

Q: Are you really sending quotes in real time? The time of the last quote in AFMCharts is behind my current time by several hours.
A: The quotes are sent in real time without delay. The time is shown for Mideuropean time zone (GMT+1 in the Winder and GMT+2 in the Summer). Your local time zone may be different. The quotes reach you with delays usually less than 1 second.
Q: On the bottom of every window there is a line "Warning! Applet Window". What is it?
A: The message is written by your browser (Java VM) to ensure you do not mistake this Java window (which is considered less trusted becuase it belong to an application downloaded from the Internet) for a regular window. We cannot remove this warning.
Q: I would like to use an indicator XXX, but AFMCharts doen't have it. Could you please add it?
A: Over one thousand indicators are known to traders. We can only support a small subset of most widely used indicators. If you believe your indicator is very useful and should be included, please start a poll in Akmos.general newsgroup. The indicators with the largest number of votes will be added first.
Q: I would like AFMCharts to work in such and such way. Please change interface, add or remove option, and so on.
A: Please send a request with a complete descripton of desired features.
Q: Can you modify AFMCharts in such a way that some windows could always remain above others (turn on always on top feature).
A: We can't do that. AFMCharts is written in Java and Java does not support this feature. If this feature is added to a future release of Java, we will immediately add it to AFMCharts.
Q: Before I had several windows with charts, now I get just the News and Quote Spread Sheet windows. How can I restore the charts?
A: When you press the Logout button, AFMCharts automatically saves the configuration. If you closed some of the chart windows and then pressed Logout, the configuration without the windows was saved. When you logged in next time, the windows did not come up. You can read in the manual how to restore them.
Q: What is the daily data volume transmitted by AFMCharts?
A: During the week with an average market activity, assuming that 4 windows with various currencies are open, the data volume over 24 hours period is expected to be around 6.5MB.
Q: When I start AFMSystem and AFMCharts from the Trading Floor page, only AFMSystem opens up. AFMCharts is not appearing even if "Launch AFMCharts" is checked.
A: Most likely you have some kind of pop-up blocker installed on your computer. For example, if you have Microsoft Windows XP SP2, the blocker is installed by default. You can either turn off the blocker or you can add http://www.akmos.com/ to the list of trusted sites. If you are using the standard blocker from Windows XP SP2, open the menu Tools-"Pop-up Blocker-"Pop-up Blocker Settings... in your Microsoft Internet Explored and add our site to the list of allowed sites.
